Re: Propane tank won't release gas I think think the new fill valves are a nusience(?) also, but really needed. My neightbors' son was almost killed by an over filled tank. He ended up spended about 3 months in the burn clinc at UW Hospital after the tank leaked, then exploded, not to say anything about burning down his house. Inserts that give a soft butane flame seem to perform much more dependably than the torch styles (i.e., with a 'hard' flame). Which for me as a pipe guy, is just what I need anyway! For what its worth, I have gone through cycles as a cigar smoker; had several butane torch type lighters such as Calibri and a few others.
